The Survival Guide For Rookie Moms - A Review

Call it hormones, call it lack of sleep, call it way too much baby on the brain but sometimes as a new Mom you just don't know what to do in certain situations. When Weston was born and we were having trouble with his eating and sleeping I did what many educated new moms would do....I sought out a book to read for advice. The trick here is you have to find the right book. One that's not too boring, not too filled with medical jargon, and that fits somewhat with your ideals of child rearing. In my case I am not sure that I ever did find a book that fit exactly with what I needed but I wish I had found The Survival Guide for Rookie Moms.

Lisa Rankin MD, OB/GYN said it best when she was quoted as saying "...reads like a girlfriends guide, but serves up the wisdom of a medical manual. This book is somewhere a cross between What to Expect when your Expecting and Jenny McCarthy's Belly Laughs. It hits all the necessary points but with a little fun and light heartedness thrown in there too.

One of my favorite parts of this book is that there are special highlighted boxes that supply you with quick tips from the trenches and survival secrets. It is great that these points are easy to find for the frazzled new Mama.

Now, you may not agree with everything in this book. Certainly to each his own on topics such as Ferber-izing and nipple confusion, however, The Survival Guide for Rookie Moms is a fabulous place to start as a new Mother! You can find this book at a variety of locations as well as amazon.com

If you are interested in the Survival Guide For Rookie Moms you can connect with them on Twitter and Facebook. Come back on January 15th for a chance to win your own copy in the Snug as a Bug giveaway hop!

Even Weston wants in on the fun!

  6. Good point on finding the right book. I think that finding the balance between a friend's advice and the medical journals is the perfect place! This could make a good shower gift!
