The Palm Tree Playground

As a Mom of an active one year old we are always looking for new, fun, and safe things to explore in our town. During the week we try to hit the gym, go on play-dates, and check out all the sites that are new to us. Unfortunately, a lot of the new and exciting things that go on are in New Orleans, which is a bit of a drive for us. It isn't a long drive but every minute counts for me when I have a tired screaming toddler. For all of these reasons I am thrilled that The Palm Tree Playground has opened in Metairie.

The Palm Tree Playground is an indoor, beach themed, playground for parties and play dates. I had the pleasure of trying out the playground with a group of Moms and kids from my meet-up group.  The first thing I noticed when I walked into the playground is that it is very new, fresh, and CLEAN. Not to be a neat freak or germaphobe, but cleanliness is important to me.  I also thought the theme and decor was fun. Throughout the playground the beach theme is present. There were boat structures, a sandy shore around the play area, and even the staff was wearing life guard-esque t-shirts. The other thing I liked (and the most important thing), was the safety. I loved that I was able to play with Weston in the toddler area and it was fenced in and relatively padded.

The toddler area has a variety of play stations. Your children can explore padded structures, play on a see-saw type toy, a house, a ship, a tunnel and many, many more. This area allows your child to be active and have fun all while working on developmentally appropriate activities. Weston cruised, crawled, climbed, practiced opening doors, and explored. It was the perfect area for my one year old, but the three year old set really seemed to have great fun as well.

The bigger play structure is really amazing for the adventurous child. Lots of moms in the group mentioned how nice it was that this larger structure really had no blind spots other than the slide. When your kids are climbing and playing rough its nice to be able to supervise easily.

While Weston played in the toddler area I followed him around in my socks and visited with other Moms. As he gets older I look forward to sitting on the benches and viewing the fun while relaxing. At this particular play date we brought lunch and ate with our friends. It is also nice that they have a cafe that will be selling beverages and snacks as well as sandwiches and salads from Roly Poly.

Yes, that's food all over Weston's face. Sign of a good time!

To sum the day up I would say that The Palm Tree Playground is kid tested and Mom approved.  I will definitely be returning with Weston to play again very soon.

I am trying to learn how not to be a " no reply blogger." Thanks from one blogger to another! :)
